MNA is hired by the Northwest Indian College (Bellingham, WA) to externally evaluate their NASA’s Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP) titled, NINAS: NASA Inspires Native American Students. A one-year partnership between University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and the NASA Ames Research Center, NINAS will expand its existing robotics curriculum (NExT) to add computer programming by recruiting select high school and NWIC students over a period of one year. Using a family-centered, culturally appropriate curriculum along with STEM/computer programming workshops, courses, and lab activities, the project aims to equip Native American students with the necessary programming skills that will enable them to design and implement programs to query sensors and motors while learning to develop algorithms. MNA is very excited to be a part of this collaboration. We are looking forward to working with the research and faculty teams at NWIC, UMBC, and Ames Research Center.
