MNA successfully completes the external evaluation of the pilot DC Model Teacher Evaluation System (DCMTES) in collaboration with the Collaborative Communications Group (CCG, DC) and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). The year-long vetting process through monthly communities of practice (CoPs) sessions, online resources and support that started in 2014-15 school year were planned and coordinated by the Collaborative and OSSE. The process aimed to engage DC’s public charter schools (a.k.a local education agencies) in researching, developing, refining, and pilot testing the teacher evaluation observation tools that the LEAs can roll out in the 2016-17 school year. During the process, MNA completed pre-post LEA participant and teacher surveys, attended CoPs, facilitated focus group discussions, provided technical assistance and subject matter expertise to the Collaborative, OSSE, and the LEA representatives. The effort has resulted in several helpful resources and materials including teacher observation tool(s) and value-added measures (VAM) that can be found on the LearnDC website.
