Between April and July 2016, HCPSS engaged MNA to complete an end-of-year evaluation of the digital education program (DEP) at the district. The exercise was in alignment with the district’s five-year strategic plan- Vision 2018. Data from an online survey administered on high school students who took at least one digital education course (e.g., fully online, synchronous -home / remote, and blended – credit recovery / original credit and phone interviews with a select group of counselors showed mixed results in regards to course taking experiences of students in different modes of delivery and using vendor sites. Quality and responsiveness to course-related issues and general communication and assistance from instructors, DEP office staff, and counselors during the course-taking experience was rated highly by students. Counselors expressed satisfaction with DEP office training opportunities and technical support but mentioned a need for additional and timely information about summer and fall courses and selection process for enrollment in DEP.
