A community school is both a place and a network of partnerships between the school and other community resources. Its integrated focus on academics, youth development, family engagement and support, health and social services and community development leads to improved student engagement and learning, stronger families, and healthier communities. We are proud to work with DC Public Schools and their partners: Communities in Schools in the Nation’s Capital (CIS), The Flamboyan Foundation, Martha’s Table, and Turnaround for Children (TF) to learn and engage the stakeholders to assess the processes and outcomes of this 5-year effort. This multi-year work funded through the U.S. Department of Education’s Full Service Community Schools Program (FSCS) will utilize a quasi-experimental design and a concurrent mixed methods evaluation approach to collect, analyze, and report findings of the effort. Stay tuned for updates, data viz, infographics, and evaluation reports.
