Some Working Saturdays are Totally Worth It!

Grant development process takes a lot of time, energy, effort, careful and strategic planning, institutional support and commitment and consistent team work from the beginning until a proposal is written well and submitted on time to a funding agency.

We have had the honor of planning and collaborating closely with a very talented and motivated department chair and faculty team members at the Department of Natural Sciences at Coppin State University (MD) for the past year of or so on a planning grant and we feel ready to apply for the big grant in 2022.

Saturday (Nov. 13th) was spent meeting and planning with the principal investigator and his team of 14 faculty members from various STEM disciplines and a grant development strategist who flew in from California to go over each and every component of a large grant proposal. The team engaged in small group work brainstorming ideas, conducting research, and presenting to everybody.

We were physically tired by the afternoon but felt invigorated by everyone’s optimism, will, and energy to begin the actual writing process soon.

No detail is small. No team member is or should be left behind in the proposal planning and development process. Everyone’s ideas are valuable. Being crystal clear on grant’s goals and objectives is very critical. Team work wins.

Onward and upward Coppin State University!

Why, yes, I received the gifts shown below 😊
