What a fantastic way to begin my work today while ending this first work week of August 2022!
Dr. Talitha Washington, the fearless leader and an exceptionally brilliant, and talented mathematician and Principal Investigator (PI) on this large, National Science Foundation (NSF) #INCLUDES Alliance grant once said at one of our meetings in early July when we were receiving strong indications of being awarded soon, “I will have 10 million reasons to smile – soon!” Yes, you most certainly do!
Big congratulations to you, Talitha, and your exemplary team members at Howard University, Fisk University, Morehouse College (the Regional hubs), and host, Clark Atlanta University.
I thought of waiting for a few more days to make this announcement on my LinkedIn space but the cat is already out of the bag and HISTORY IS MADE!
CAU becomes the first HBCU to receive a $10 million award from the NSF to establish the National Data Science Alliance (NDSA).
MNA is proud to announce that we are the external evaluators on this grant. We will be working closely with the PI and her team over the next five years who will engage and increase the number of Black people who earn data science credentials to 20,000. Currently, only 3% of all data science professionals are Blacks.
