Ah, how fitting it is that the National Center for the Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology’s (NCAS M II) annual capacity building conference for the 20+ fellows found its home within the warm embrace of the Kellogg Conference Center on the esteemed and stunning campus of Gallaudet University.
In this exceptional venue, the conference was destined to thrive (and it did!) surrounded by an aura of inclusivity and collaboration. When here, you must visit the National Deaf Life Museum that serves as a beacon of progress and hope for deaf culture.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration-funded NCAS M II project is a $30 million grant that spans five years and is aimed at increasing the enrollment, retention, and support of minorities in atmospheric sciences.
The NCAS M II project supports educational and research programs in the areas of weather, climate, and air quality. Specifically, the grant funds are being used to provide support for the NOAA Cooperative Science Center in Atmospheric Sciences at Howard University, which serves as the flagship center for the NOAA’s Educational Partnership Program with Minority Serving Institutions (EPP/MSI). (Gotta love the acronyms 😁)
Glad to be a part of this important initiative.
