On the last “working day” of 2023, a few thoughts.
In the unfolding chapters of 2023, it was a year etched with remarkable highs and heart-wrenching lows. On one side, some moments sparkled with accomplishment—winning NASA’s Puffin Award for resilience in reporting, securing contracts for STEM and K-16 education evaluation work from the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) for the Department of Defense (DOD-STEM) grant, garnering support from organizations like the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Science Foundation (NSF), NASA, U.S. Department of Labor, and the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
These victories weren’t just professional milestones; they became the foundation for our ongoing evaluation work and growing portfolio.
The narrative didn’t solely revolve around governmental agencies; it expanded to include collaborations with private Foundations and a corporate giant. Their encouragement and backing added layers to our story, showcasing a diverse and robust network that has fueled our endeavors.
Our team of talented evaluators expanded. Their hard work was duly recognized by our clients. We are ever so grateful to them.
Yet, amid the celebrations for success and the promise of new ventures, the year also carried the weight of sorrow—a profound loss, the passing of my dear mom. While we raised toasts to breakthroughs in space exploration, educational initiatives, and collaborative partnerships, personal grief cast a shadow, adding a poignant layer to the story of 2023.
Furthermore, the global stage witnessed unsettling scenes of war, chaos, hopelessness, and unrest. These external challenges painted a backdrop of uncertainty, serving as a stark reminder that the world’s complexities are interwoven with our personal and professional journeys.
Nevertheless, within the notes of intense sorrow and chaos, a subtle glimmer of hope emerges—a resilient reminder that, even in the face of the darkest moments, the human spirit possesses the strength to navigate towards brighter tomorrows.
New Year’s dawn whispers,
Hope dances in the moon’s glow,
Fresh dreams take a slow flight now.
