Newton’s First Law of Motion tells us that a body in motion stays in motion, and that’s certainly been the case for MNA this June. We’ve been on the move, conducting site visits and engaging with various projects and partners, all while maintaining our momentum in advancing STEM education, data science, and other educational initiatives.
The George Mason University’s RISE (Research in Interdisciplinary STEM Experiences) Scholars program is designed to immerse undergraduate students in hands-on research experiences under the guidance of faculty mentors. This initiative aims to enhance students’ academic and professional skills by engaging them in meaningful research projects across various disciplines.
RISE Scholars have the opportunity to collaborate closely with faculty mentors, gaining insights into the research process, developing critical thinking abilities, and contributing to the creation of new knowledge. The program emphasizes the importance of inquiry and scholarship, encouraging students to pursue their intellectual passions and prepare for future careers or advanced studies. By fostering a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment, the RISE Scholars program at George Mason University helps undergraduates become active participants in their educational journey, promoting a deeper understanding of their fields of study and the broader academic community.
