I’m excited to share that a new white paper is on the way from MN Associates, Inc.:
Responsive Evaluation Design in S-STEM Projects
This one feels especially timely. While our recent guidebooks have focused on practical, lifecycle-based implementation guidance, this new piece takes a different angle. Rather than another “how-to” resource, it is designed as a thought piece for the field—proposing a more responsive, mechanism-aware way to design evaluation in evolving S-STEM contexts.
In engineering and computing education, S-STEM projects rarely unfold in linear ways. Cohort models evolve, mentoring structures shift, institutional contexts matter, and scholar needs change across Track 1, 2, and 3 work. This white paper introduces Responsive Evaluation Design (RED) as a way to help project teams move beyond static reporting toward deeper learning about what is working, for whom, and under what conditions.
The goal is not simply to document outcomes, but to strengthen how we think about evaluation as a learning system—one that supports scholar success, sustainability, and knowledge generation across the S-STEM lifecycle.
