MNA spends two days at the NASA Ames Research Center (Silicon Valley) to learn about wind tunnel, zero-gravity lab, micro-satellites, vertical simulator, and the NASA SPHERES program. MNA is currently evaluating a one-year NASA-funded Minority University Research Education Project (MUREP) to Washington-based Northwest Indian College (NWIC). The program is a collaborative effort between University of Maryland (Baltimore County) and NWIC. Titled: NASA Inspires Native American Students (NINAS) aspires to develop, train, and implement robotics-based curriculum at the Lummi Nation high schools and NWIC students who want to pursue STEM-related careers.
